IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Many patients first meet us in the hospital Emergency Room, when one of our doctors is called in to provide urgent treatment. After treatment, they follow up in our office. Other patients find us through other physicians’ referrals or simply word of mouth.
For details on office protocols, read our FAQs. For information about the cost of care, see the section on Insurance below.

Insurance information:
In-network
Your insurance coverage depends on your specific policy. Austin Skeletal Trauma Specialists is contracted (in-network) with the following insurance plans:
· Medicare · Blue Cross (HMO and POS) · Seton
If you are enrolled in an HMO plan (Health Maintenance Organization) or a POS plan (Point of Service), you must inform your primary care physician, and you may be required to obtain a referral for follow-up visits in our office. Call the number listed on your insurance card to determine your plan’s rules. If a referral is required from your primary care physician, please request it at least seven days in advance. We must have the completed referral on hand at the time of your visit.
Out-of-network
If we are not contracted (out-of-network) with your plan, you are responsible for any balance not reimbursed by your insurance.
Without a special authorization – a referral or an exception request – your insurance may only cover our services at the out-of-network rate. Our office team is happy to help you request a special authorization. It is your responsibility to verify the details with your insurance company.
For help requesting an authorization, contact us at 512-391-1751.
